Information Technology & Logistic Council's 2007 Annual Conference
Orlando World Center Marriott

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is on the final leg of creating new standards for Electronic On-Board Recorders (EOBRs) to monitor Hours of Service (HOS). The American Trucking Associations submitted comments in response to FMCSA's January 18, 2007 notice of proposed rulemaking, which would incorporate revised performance standards and establish new agency policies for electronic on-board recorders (EOBRs) for Hours of Service compliance.

ATA generally supported the agency's approach to provide incentives to drive voluntary adoption of EOBRs with a limited mandate aimed at non-compliant motor carriers and drivers.

The Technology & Maintenance Council created a Technical Policy Advisory (TPA) recommending technical requirements for EOBRS which were added as part of ATA's comments to the FMCSA.

This session will cover ATA and TMC recommendations as well as an update on the latest EOBR developments from the FMCSA.
