HERNDON, Va.– June 29, 2005 –
GeoLogic Solutions, the transportation industry’s leading
provider of multi-mode mobile communications and tracking
systems, today announced that Iowa-based Florilli Transportation
LLC has adopted its MobileMax™ Multi-Mode solution for
its 225-truck fleet.
Florilli Transportation is a long-time user of multi-mode
communications and tracking systems from GeoLogic, dating
back more than ten years. The new five-year agreement with
GeoLogic calls for upgrading the entire fleet with new MobileMax
technology. Headquartered in West Liberty, Iowa, Florilli
operates 225 tractors and 300 trailers in refrigerated, truckload,
and irregular route service in the lower 48 states.
The decision by Florilli to upgrade to GeoLogic’s MobileMax
system was made after a five month evaluation of all choices
on the market, according to Murry Fitzer, CEO. “After
weighing and considering all the factors, including performance,
price and usage costs,” he stated, “the outcome
was clear—GeoLogic was still the best all-around choice.”
Florilli views on-board communications and tracking capabilities
as an integral part of doing business and providing a high
level of service. “We are anticipating measurable benefits
from the new GeoLogic system in terms of fuel efficiency,
vehicle utilization and enhanced customer service,”
stated Fitzer.
In particular, Florilli is planning to use the advanced capabilities
of MobileMax to improve fuel efficiency by linking the communications
system to electronic engine controls to monitor fuel economy
and idling in real time. “This gives us a more effective
means to gather performance data rather than wait to access
information from each truck,” Fitzer explained. “As
we move forward and new equipment is installed in more of
the fleet, we’ll proactively manage the data on idle
time to find ways to make fuel-saving improvements.”
The MobileMax system will also be used to help capture more
accurate arrival and departure times and proactively gather
data directly from the vehicle in order to enhance the fleet’s
ability to provide information to customers.
“As a refrigerated carrier,” Fitzer added, “we
have exposure to cargo claims. One consideration in adopting
the new MobileMax technology is to ultimately have the ability
to monitor shipment temperatures in transit, and fix problems
quickly so we can mitigate cargo claims.
“We are able to make this migration to the newer MobileMax
technology from GeoLogic with a good level of confidence,”
Fitzer concluded. “We’ve done business with the
same people at the company for enough time to know they will
deliver service reliably. We’re very pleased with GeoLogic’s
excellent coverage, service and technical support.”
