Make the Switch to GeoLogic Solutions
Herndon, VA – February 15, 2005 –GeoLogic
Solutions, a Platinum Equity company, today announced it
has signed several new contracts with customers that are
trading out other mobile communications devices for its
MobileMax™ Multi-Mode™ system, a mobile communications
and tracking system that combines satellite and terrestrial
communications into a single solution.
According to Shawn Moore, CEO of R.C. Moore,
“cost of operation, seamless coverage and customer
support” were what led the Scarborough, Maine-based
truckload carrier to select the GeoLogic MobileMax system.
“We looked at other products on the market and this
was definitely the most reliable and cost effective because
of its multi-mode technology.”
Originally a user of an earlier mobile communications
system from GeoLogic, R.C. Moore recently decided to upgrade
its fleet of 135 tractors with new MobileMax units. In addition,
33 onboard units supplied by a cellular-based mobile communications
company are now being removed and replaced with the latest
GeoLogic technology.
“We found the store and forward nature
of the other product didn’t work for us,” stated
Moore. “We operate in a just-in-time environment and
need information immediately. The cost of getting real-time
information from the other product was just too expensive.”
Arkansas-based carrier, DMT Services, found
itself increasingly dissatisfied with the cost of its existing
satellite-only communications and tracking system provider.
“Last summer we began looking for a
system that would offer us better pricing and more predictable
monthly costs,” stated Bryan Yarbrough, director of
IS for DMT. “Our own evaluation told us that the MobileMax
system and its multi-mode technology would give us more
options and capabilities.”
“In addition,” continued Yarbrough,
“with better pricing and monthly recurring charges
that are half what we were paying, we expect a very quick
return on this investment.”
Conway Courier Service, another Alabama-based
truckload carrier, will be replacing its current cell phones
with MobileMax.
“We clearly had a need to be able to
meet shipper and receiver requests for onboard communications
and tracking capabilities,” stated Jason Johnson,
safety director for Conway Courier Service. “The cell
phones we had been using to communicate with drivers did
not offer the abilities we needed to effectively service
our customers. About five months ago we began to evaluate
various solutions and compared to a couple of others, the
MobileMax system from GeoLogic Solutions was clearly the
best choice.”
“We believe the growing number of carriers
that are switching to MobileMax is proof that we are effectively
addressing the industry’s need for a reliable and
cost-effective tracking and communications solution,”
stated John Lewis, CEO of GeoLogic Solutions. “We
are proud to count these most recently signed companies
as customers.”
GeoLogic Solution’s flagship product,
MobileMax was the first mobile communications and tracking
system to utilize both terrestrial and satellite-based networks.
It automatically selects the faster, lower-cost terrestrial
network for data transmission first, and switches seamlessly
to the satellite network when coverage is needed in remote
areas.
Use of this multi-mode technology reduces
monthly communications fees by as much as 40% over the cost
of satellite-only networks while still providing the total
coverage that terrestrial-only systems are unable to guarantee.
In addition to providing communications and tracking, MobileMax
automatically records state-line crossings, monitors driver
and vehicle performance, communicates engine fault codes
and alerts companies of driver arrival at/or departure from
geofenced locations.
