Hybrid vs. Onboard Model hybrid solution is one that leverages not only static data loaded onboard, but also dynamic data pulled in from external resources (i.e. from the web via cellular or satellite communications).

There are two major reasons why Maptuit has chosen a hybrid model for navigation: 1) our dynamic road network, 2) our commercial grade routing.

1. Dynamic Road Network: Navigation should be based on the most accurate and constantly updated data available. Unlike onboard mapping, which is out of date the day it is loaded, Maptuit's navigation is based on a road network hosted on our servers that is updated in real-time. Our competitors rely solely on outdated, static maps.

2. Commercial Grade Routing: It is physically impossible to generate a high quality truck route with the limited power of an onboard device. Maptuit addresses this shortcoming by utilizing hundreds of servers to calculate the industry's most sophisticated truck routes. It isn't enough just to be aware of truck restrictions (of which Maptuit has the largest and most-up to date collection in the industry). Community of Drivers
The Maptuit Community, today comprised of over 80,000 professional drivers, is a key element in helping Maptuit keep the nation's best truck-specific road network up-to-date. Commercial Grade Rerouting
No one knows how to drive better than the professional truck driver. We recognize that a fuel stop or a weigh station might not be situated right next to the road, and we appreciate that occasionally drivers might miss a turn. Maptuit NaviGo does not distract the driver by attempting to reroute every time a driver alters course. As a solution, Maptuit NaviGo offers the option to allow the driver to choose a re-route only when it is wanted.
